Trézor.io/Start® – Getting Started with Your Trezor®

When you first unbox your Trezor® hardware wallet, the official setup process begins at Trézor.io/Start® — the safe, step-by-step gateway that helps you initialize your device, secure your recovery seed, and manage your crypto with confidence.

What You’ll Need

Before starting at Trézor.io/Start®, make sure you have:

  • Your Trezor® hardware wallet (Model One or Model T)
  • A computer or mobile device
  • A USB cable (included with your device)
  • A secure, private workspace
  • Something to write down your recovery seed (not digital)

Step 1: Visit Trézor.io/Start®

Go to Trézor.io/Start® in your web browser. This URL automatically redirects you to the official Trezor Suite setup flow. Always double-check the address — phishing sites exist, so confirm you’re on the genuine site before plugging in your device.

Step 2: Connect Your Trezor® Device

Once on Trézor.io/Start®, plug in your Trezor® wallet via USB. The site will detect your device and begin the onboarding process. Your screen will light up with a welcome message.

Step 3: Install Trezor Bridge or Suite (if prompted)

For most desktop users, you’ll be asked to install Trezor Bridge — a small helper program that lets your browser communicate with the hardware wallet. If you’re using the all-in-one desktop app, you’ll install Trezor Suite instead, which simplifies firmware updates and transaction management.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install whatever is recommended. Once installed, reconnect your device to continue.

Step 4: Update Firmware

New devices often require a firmware update for the latest features and security improvements. Trézor.io/Start® will prompt you if an update is needed.

  • Click Update
  • Wait while the firmware installs
  • Do not unplug during this process

Once it finishes, your device will restart automatically.

Step 5: Confirm Your Device

After the firmware update, Trézor.io/Start® will ask you to confirm that the device screen matches what you see on your computer. This step ensures your connection hasn’t been tampered with.

Step 6: Create a New Wallet

Now comes the most important part — creating your recovery seed.

Trézor.io/Start® will let you generate a 12-, 18-, or 24-word seed phrase. Choose the length that fits your security preferences (more words = slightly stronger security).

Your Trezor® device will display the words one by one:

  • Write them down on the provided card or a secure medium
  • Never store the seed digitally
  • Never share it with anyone

Step 7: Confirm Your Seed

To make sure you copied the seed correctly, the setup will ask you to confirm some of the words. This prevents lost funds due to miswritten seeds.

Step 8: Name Your Wallet

After confirming your seed, you’ll be prompted to give your wallet a name. This helps if you manage multiple devices or accounts.

You’re Ready!

Once the Trézor.io/Start® setup is complete, your Trezor® wallet is ready to use. You can now:

  • Receive and send crypto
  • Manage tokens and coins
  • Connect to decentralized apps
  • Explore staking and DeFi features (supported networks)

Always keep your recovery seed safe — it’s the only way to recover your funds if the device is lost or damaged.
